Indian & South Asian Weddings in Bergen County, NJ
From the first beat of the dhol at the baraat to the last dance of the reception, an Indian wedding asks more of a venue than almost any other celebration — and choosing the right one changes everything. At Old Tappan Manor, we welcome Indian and South Asian families with the space, the flexibility, and the exclusive attention your traditions deserve. We’re not a South Asian caterer — we’re the elegant Bergen County setting that welcomes your Indian caterer, gives your baraat and mandap room to shine, and devotes the entire venue to your family alone. Here’s how an Indian wedding works at the Manor.
An Exclusive Venue for Your Celebration — Not One of Three
Here’s what sets us apart from the big banquet halls: we host one event at a time. While some large venues run multiple weddings at once across several ballrooms, your celebration at Old Tappan Manor is the only one on the property. The entire venue, our grounds, and our full team belong to your family for the day. For a wedding as personal and multi-layered as an Indian celebration, that undivided attention and privacy is something families treasure — and it’s genuinely hard to find at scale. We welcome celebrations of up to 350 guests, with the whole venue devoted to you.
Room for Every Tradition
The Baraat
Our outdoor arrival area and driveway give your baraat room to be exactly as energetic and joyful as it should be. We’ll work with your planner and entertainment team to map a safe, celebratory arrival with space for the dhol and procession, and a weather backup so nothing is left to chance.
The Mandap & Ceremony
Our spacious ceremony areas — by our signature waterfall outdoors or beneath the chandeliers of our grand ballroom — give decorators the footprint and the height to build a beautiful, ornate mandap. If your ceremony includes a havan or sacred flame, raise it with us early: we’ll work with you, your officiant, and your decorator on what’s possible within fire and safety requirements, and confirm the details in writing before you commit.
Your Caterer, Your Cuisine
Authentic food is the heart of an Indian wedding, and we welcome the outside South Asian caterer of your choice — North Indian, South Indian, Gujarati, Punjabi, Mughlai, halal, Jain, or a specialty caterer — with proof of insurance. We provide the delivery access, preparation space, and service areas your caterer needs to serve your family beautifully. If you’d prefer, we’re glad to point you toward experienced Indian caterers we’ve worked with.
The Full Arc of Your Day
A welcome, a ceremony, a lavish reception with a packed dance floor — our team helps the transitions feel effortless, with the pacing and space to keep every ritual unrushed and every guest cared for.
A Setting Worthy of the Occasion
Beyond the logistics, this is simply a stunning place to marry. Our grounds feature an illuminated 20-foot waterfall and manicured gardens for your ceremony and photographs. Our grand ballroom, with crystal chandeliers, soaring Palladian windows, and a generous dance floor, comfortably holds up to 350 guests with room for spirited dancing. Color, tradition, and elegance, together.
Minutes from New York & the Tri-State South Asian Community
Old Tappan Manor sits right on the New Jersey–New York border, making us a convenient, elegant choice for South Asian families across the region. We’re an easy drive for guests coming from Bergen County, Jersey City and Hudson County, Rockland and Westchester, and the greater New York City area. Close to home for your guests, yet a world away in beauty for your celebration.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Old Tappan Manor host Indian and South Asian weddings?
Yes. We welcome Indian and South Asian weddings of up to 350 guests, including baraat processions, mandap ceremonies, and outside South Asian caterers. Because we host one event at a time, the entire venue is devoted to your family and your celebration.
Can we bring our own Indian caterer?
Absolutely. You’re welcome to bring the South Asian caterer of your choice (with proof of insurance) — North Indian, South Indian, Gujarati, Punjabi, Mughlai, halal, Jain, or a specialty caterer — and we provide the space and access they need. We can also recommend experienced Indian caterers we’ve worked with.
Is there space for a baraat and a mandap?
Yes. Our outdoor arrival area and driveway accommodate an energetic baraat, and our spacious ceremony areas — outdoors by the waterfall or in the ballroom — give decorators room to build a beautiful, ornate mandap. We’ll coordinate the baraat route and timing with your planner.
Can we have a havan or sacred flame at the ceremony?
It depends on the specific setup and fire-safety requirements, so please raise it with us early in planning. We’ll work with you, your officiant, and your decorator to determine what’s possible and confirm the details in writing before you book.
How many guests can you accommodate for an Indian wedding?
We comfortably host up to 350 guests, with genuine room for dining and dancing. Because we host one event at a time, the entire venue and our full team are dedicated to your celebration — an exclusive experience larger multi-event halls can’t offer.
