As a busy bride planning your wedding, you have a lot of things to do to prepare for your ceremony and reception itself. However, one thing you don’t want to leave permanently on the ‘back burner’ is completing your wedding registry. There are many reasons why you should take advantage of registries. Here are 4 wedding registry benefits you don’t want to miss.
1. Utilizing one or more wedding registries will help you to get the items you actually need or want.
When guests use your wedding registry, they will be purchasing something/things that you’ve already decided you want. This makes it less likely that you’ll receive gift items you won’t be able to use, because you are in control of what you put on your registry. Of course, you can’t control whether people use your registry, but as long as your wedding/shower guests know about it, there’s a good chance they will. People do seem to use wedding registries the most in comparison with other registries (such as baby registries.) Wonder which sites and stores are the best?! Check out this registry article.
2. A bridal registry make gift-giving more convenient for your family and friends.
When engaged couples use registries, this takes the guesswork out of the equation when it comes to wedding guests trying to figure out what they want to get them that they’ll actually use. It’s true some guests will still opt for something else they think you need, (regardless of what’s on your registry,) and others may get you a gift card or give you cash (which can still help you get the things you need.)
However, a lot of your friends or family may prefer to get you a gift you personally want instead of giving you money or a gift card. At the same time they want to have the confidence that you will actually use what they purchase, instead of trying to find a gift for you on their own and wondering if you need it. Some people may also want to give you an actual gift if they don’t have physical cash on hand or money in their account to write a check, but maybe they have a credit card or gift card they can use to purchase a gift with.
3. Using a wedding registry can make it easier to return items if you end up getting duplicates of things you already have.
Stores where you’ve registered usually make it easy for you to return registered items if you need to. They will often provide a gift receipt when individuals make purchases off of a registry. Even if you need to return an item without the receipt or gift receipt, if it’s something you registered for, this is often simpler to do.
Although there are a lot of places that will accept certain returns without a receipt, if the items returned are not on a registry, stores sometimes have a policy in place that limits the amount of returns you can make in a certain time-frame, or up to a certain dollar amount.
4. Using a wedding registry can save you money.
Many stores will offer discounts or coupons during a certain time-frame if you want to purchase remaining items on your wedding registry that were not gifted to you by someone else. Some places may also offer some type of rewards program or additional discounts based on the amount of purchases made off of your registry by other people. Therefore, it’s good to do your research and take advantage of these ways to save money on items that you already need and want!
